3rd October 2012 'The Enigma' joins Bhopal Survivors visit to City Hall, London
The International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal organised a 'Tour of Survivors' to highlight the fact that Bhopal continues to suffer from the environmental impacts of the Union Carbide factory – both from exposure to the gas and from the ongoing contamination of the polluted factory site.
The people of Bhopal continue their fight for justice as we approach the 30th anniversary of one of the worst corporate crimes in history. |
Balkrishna Namdev was exposed to the gas in 1984 and campaigns with the older and economically dependent survivors.
Safreen Khan’s parents were exposed and she has grown up drinking contaminated water from the factory site. The pair therefore were able to highlight both of the Bhopal disasters – the 1984 gas leak and the ongoing contamination. |
Union Carbide was responsible for the gas leak and continues to evade justice and avoid paying adequate compensation.
Union Carbide’s owner, DOW, refuses to accept responsibility or to take any action to clean up the site.
Despite this, DOW has been welcomed to Britain as a sponsor of the London Olympic games.
