Candlelit Vigil for Bhopal at the Houses of Parliament on the 28th August 2012
The Bhopal Enigma joins the Vigil
The sculpture, the Bhopal Enigma joins the Candlelit Vigil outside the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London on the night of the 28th August 2012 during the Paralympic Games being held in London. Sadly the sculpture arrived just as the vigil was ending having travelled all the way round London in search of it, passing the Olympic Stadiums in East London earlier in the day and crossing Tower Bridge winding its way through South London and north again to the site of the 1948 London Olympics at White City and Wembly. |
But nothing was lost and much was gained.
Those about to leave the vigil turned back to welcome 'The Bhopal Enigma'. The lady in the wheelchair took up a megaphone and announced to the world words that lifted higher and higher, higher than the roar of the London traffic passing by. These words were picked up by the camera for ever, ending with the solemn notes of Big Ben as it struck the night hour. (a link will be placed here to YouTube shortly) |
